Photo Contest Rules, Terms, and Conditions for Entrants

Please read the following contest rules, terms, and conditions for entrants carefully before entering.


  • The Huntington Beach Council on Aging 2019 Photo Contest is open to all amateur photographers, that are members of the Huntington Beach Council On Aging, age 18 years and older residing in Orange County, California.  Volunteers of the Huntington Beach Council on Aging/Senior Center in Central Park are eligible to enter.
  • Subject matter is what inspires you at the Senior Center in Central Park. Images must be an activity, event or social gathering that take place at the Senior Center in Central Park, including outdoor events or activities on the grounds. Subject matter must be in good taste.
  • Only 1 entry per person for the contest. Each photo can be entered only once.
  • The image must have been created in the years of 2018 or 2019. Online submission is from May 22nd to August 16th, 2019. No entries will be accepted after August 16th, 2019.
  • You must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of the image entered.
  • HBCOA does not accept liability for the publication of unlawfully reproduced images.
  • Computer altered “PhotoShop” images will not be accepted nor will illustrations.
  • Entries must originate in either a digital file, photographic print, digital print, color transparency, but must be submitted electronically using the online entry form. If you need help please contact the front desk at the Senior Center in Central Park and they will assist you in completing your applications. File size can vary from 1 mb to 5 mb in size at a maximum of 300ppi in jpg format. HBCOA does not take responsibility for corrupted images, incorrect image specifications or late entries.
  • Photographs submitted must be original work by the contest entrant.
  • A model release is mandatory if the person is recognizable, from the subject and for a minor, the subject’s parent or legal guardian must complete the model release form.  The form can be downloaded from the HBCOA website and must be submitted by email to webmaster@hbcoa.orgor… dropped off at the front desk at the Senior Center in Central Park. If the release form is not submitted, then the entry may be invalid.
  • By submitting your image to the photo contest, you are granting the HBCOA a non-exclusive right to reproduce the image. Your image can only be used on the HBCOA website, HBCOA newsletter and marketing materials (such as HBCOA e-blast, future HBCOA contest marketing materials). Winners consent to the use of their image, name and/or photograph without compensation.
  • Entry form must be filled out completely with photo attachment, payment must be paid in full or entry is invalid.
  • A panel of local professional artists and local photo enthusiasts will judge the winning photos. These entries will be narrowed down to the top 25 images.  These judges will pick the top 3 photos for 1st, 2ndand 3rdfor the entire contest. The 25 images will be posted on the HBCOA website where they will be voted on by the public to pick the “People’s Choice” for 1st, 2ndand 3rdaward.
  • Winners will not be notified, but will be announced on Thursday, September 26st at the Photo Contest Awards Reception at the Senior Center in Central Park.
  • The contest is limited to the first "100" entries.


  • Voting is open to all HBCOA members, living in Orange Country, California.
  • Individuals can only cast 1 vote, no duplicates or double voting.
  • Voting will be open from August 26th, 2019 to September 13th, 2019.
  • The HBCOA reserves the right, at their discretion, to disqualify and entrant, image or vote that may have been casted by unfair means.
