Social, Community and Holiday Activities/Events for 2024
Working with the staff of the Senior Center in Central Park, the HBCOA present an array of social activities and events designed to make an Active Aging lifestyle fun and enjoyable. The list is the most current events we have to offer. Check back again for more exciting events coming soon.
February 2, 2023 General HBCOA Board meeting at which Fire Chief Scott Haberle and Police Chief Eric Para gave presentations to the Board of Directors. The meeting took place at the Senior Center.

Wednesday Walkers, Every Wedneday at 8:30am
Join the MOVEMENT at the Senior Center in Central Park. It's as easy as one two!
STEP ONE: The program takes place every Wednesday at 8:30am. Participants will meet at the Senior Center and then walk either a 30-minuite or 1 hour loop throughout Central Park.
STEP TWO: Show up each Wednesday morning wearing comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes. Let's get healthy together!

Casual Hiking Group
*Easy Local Hikes Year-Round*
Looking to hike locally with friends? Then joinour Casual Hiking Group and meet people who enjoy the outdoors and the sounds of nature. If you’re interested please visit our front desk and ask to be put on the interest list. Each week the volunteer instructor will reach out to participants with details about the hike of the week! This is more of a social club, not a class, and an email address is required.

Meaningful Conversations About What Matters
HBCOA and Community Partners present a series of informative & interactive workshops to help us positively open up about sensitive topics related to aging. Lead by expert facilitators, participants will learn & practice in small groups, how & when to have important & meaningful discussions about:
- Cognitive & Mental Health changes
- End of Life Planning
- Driving & Safety
- Care Options
Specific topics follow on the 1st Thursdays of August, September, October, and November. Free 5-6:30pm
Older adults, spouses, adult children, and friends are welcome. Attendance of the 1st meeting is highly recommended.

Huntington Beach Fishing & Recreation Club
The Huntington Beach Fishing and Recreation Club (HBFRC) is looking for new members. The Fishing Club is all about fishing, camaraderie and haaving fun. We have male and femaile members of all ages. We fish in local freshwater lakes, the Sierras, saltwater bays, surf and the open ocean as well as Mexico, Canada and Alaska. Some members don't fish but enjoy the social activities, brunches at restaurants, Potluck lunches, Fish Fry's, Darts in the Park and more. There is a small yearly membership fee to participate. We have a very active calendar with scheduled activities every week. Best of all there is nothing about politics and no drama. We would like to invite you to attend one of our monthly meeting at the HB Senior Center in Central Park on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00am sharp, so come early and see first-hand what it's all about. Drum Circle
Join Lee Kix and the drum circle community this month. Bring your own drum or borrow one of Lee’s. All are welcome and this is a free activity that takes place in our Parkview Room!

Please join the Senior Center for its first Poet’s Lounge Night! An open mic dedicated to poetry & spoken word. Get the chance to share your original poetry, spoken word, or your favorite poem. This is an event open to anyone interested in diving into the world of open mics & poetry. Come down and snap the night away! Space is limited, RSVP at the front desk.

Travel & Trips Rose Parade, Wednesday, January 1, 2025
Join the Huntington BeachCouncil on Aging for the “Best Day Ever!” Rose Parade. This is a great trip to bring the whole family! Enjoy grandstand seating on Colorado Boulevard with an unobstructed view of the parade. The bus parks approximately 1/2 mile from the parade route. A boxed lunch and beverage is included with the trip. All passengers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. We will depart from the parking lot at the Senior Center in Central Park at 18041 Goldenwest St. Depart 6:30 a.m. Return 2:00 p.m. $159 HBCOA members $169 non-members.
