HBCOA Day Tours

Huntington Beach Council on Aging (HBCOA) day tours are open to everyone who wants to experience an educational and cultural event. The health, well-being, safety, and enjoyment of the travel guests are our top priority.

 

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Ride and enjoy a fully equipped, professionally driven motor coach with a tour director and tour hosts from the Senior Center. Prices include transportation, sightseeing, and admission. Meals may be included in the price.

 

SEATING

Please let us know if you need special accommodations or if any mobility or assistive devices are utilized.

 

GRATUITIES (WHICH ARE OPTIONAL)

If you feel like the tour director and driver have done a good job, you may recognize them with a small gratuity at the end of the tour.

 

DEPARTURE / RETURN INFORMATION

Buses depart from Huntington Beach Central Library (HBCL): 7111 Talbert Ave., Huntington Beach, CA 92648.

 

CANCELLATIONS / REFUNDS

For all tours, there is a 30-day notification deadline to receive a refund. You must cancel prior to the 30 days, or you may forfeit your tour cost. There is a $6.00 administrative fee for all cancellations. Notify the Travel and Resource Room about your change of plans at 714-374-1572.

 

TO BOOK A TRIP
The Travel and Resource Room at the Senior Center is open for tour bookings. Call the Travel and Resource Room at (714) 374-1572 to ensure that the room is open and operating before coming in to book, and to check the availability of the trips.

Trip registration is available Monday- Friday in the Travel and Resource Room at the Senior Center in Central Park. Unless otherwise noted trips depart from the Huntington Beach Central Library Theater parking lot on Goldenwest and Talbert next to the Central Library.

The Roaring 20’s

Tuesday, September 9th

Experience the splendor of the Roaring 20s with an exclusive tour that brings Los Angeles' most dazzling era to life. Our adventure begins with a docent lead tour at Angelus Temple, built in 1923 and home to the legendary evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson. Next, we visit the Central Library, completed in 1926. Inside, you'll find stunning murals, mosaics, and grand chandeliers that transport you to a time of literary elegance. At midday, we arrive at the legendary Biltmore Hotel, a beacon of Los Angeles' rise as a major metropolis. In the Rendezvous Court, enjoy a sumptuous pasta buffet featuring an assortment of pasta dishes, soup, Caesar salad, and dessert. This stunning setting has been featured in countless films and television shows, adding
to its timeless allure.Our final stop is the iconic Los Angeles City Hall, completed in 1928 where we will ascend to the 27th-floor observation deck for sweeping views of the city. This tour involves moderate walking. Lunch Included.

Bite-of-history

A Bite of History - A Culinary and Cultural Journey

Tuesday, October 21st

Join us for a day that blends delicious flavors and captivating history. We’ll begin in Pasadena with a cup of coffee and a fresh pastry. Next, we head to Eagle Rock for bold and flavorful Thai cuisine at one of the area’s hidden gems. We will then step into Hollywood’s Golden Era with lunch at the legendary Smoke House in Burbank. In the heart of the Hollywood Hills, we will pause to admire The Birth of Liberty, a mosaic by Italian artist Bruno Barsi. It spans 162 feet and is made of over 10 million hand-cut Venetian glass tiles. This is the largest American Revolution-themed mosaic in the country. Dessert will be at the original Bob’s Big Boy, established in 1949 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Our journey ends in North Hollywood with a walk through the Television Academy’s Sculpture Garden. This is a tribute to TV’s greatest talents and features bronze sculptures honoring the pioneers and innovators who helped shape the medium
