HBCOA What's New

HBCOA at the forefront of aging issues

Officially recognized by the City Council of Huntington Beach as representing its local senior citizens, the HBCOA was awarded non-profit status in 1973 and has always been at the forefront of aging issues. During the design stage of the new Senior Center in Central Park, the City Council directed the HBCOA to provide input related to the overall design of the new center.

Message, Information & Updates

We are deeply appreciative of our ability to support the senior center to provide critical services, programs, information, and educational resources that empower Huntington Beach's older adults to live well and age well. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our HBCOA members, dedicated volunteers, community partners, and generous donors. Your ongoing support is the foundation of everything we achieve. We are equally thankful for the commitment and hard work of our senior center staff.

If you are not yet a member, volunteer, or donor, I invite you to become part of our community.

Your HBCOA President, Carolyn Ross

President’s Message

What a vibrant summer we've had! Thanks to our dedicated volunteers and Senior Center in Central Park staff, we hosted concerts, the Disc Golf Tournament, our fireworks booth fundraiser, and this month’s Grandparent's Day celebration. As we transition into fall, September brings exciting opportunities at the Center. Our calendar is full of activities, highlighted by the Active Living Expo on September 20. This is a wonderful chance to discover healthy aging resources and connect with our community. Please stop by the HBCOA table we’d love to see you there! Your membership supports all the programs, services, and events that make the Senior Center in Central Park special. If you're not yet a member, we'd love to have you join us! Visit our website or stop by the Center for more information. Wishing you a September filled with friendship, learning, and joy!

Warmly,
Carolyn Ross - Board President, Huntington Beach Council on Aging

Supervisor's Message

Hello Senior Center in Central Park Friends!

As August heats up, I hope you are keeping cool while enjoying your summer. We’ve already hosted some great events like the Disc Golf Tournament, concerts & luncheon. All of us are looking forward to a sold-out Grandparents Day this month which is sure to delight all ages thanks to a terrific team of volunteers, generous donors, and staff. Our annual Active Living Expo, a fun way to connect with services and programs geared toward the 9/20/25 second half of life, will be held on Saturday, September 20th, from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Thanks to Hoag, the title sponsor, and others, this event is FREE for community members to attend, this is our biggest fundraising event of the year. We hope to see you here! National Senior Citizens Day is celebrated on August 21st. What a great day to recognize the contributions of older adults to society. I’d like to acknowledge the contributions of our volunteers, staff, guests, community partners, and donors. All provide ideas, energy, funds, services, expertise, and other sets to help make our center what it is today. Each of us plays a vital part in making the Senior Center in Central Park a special place where people feel welcomed, energized, and supported in their unique journey through life. Thank you for being part of it!

With peace,
